August Favorites

It's Labor Day which means the unofficial end of summer. It's always a bit bittersweet to come to the end of a season, but to me this seasonal switch always feels like a welcome reset. The time from Memorial Day to Labor Day is hectic and hot and just a bit all over the place. Come September, its back to school, and a normal work week for all of those lucky "summer Friday" people out there, back to healthier eating and routines and fall fashion!

In that spirit, here are a few things that have caught my eye lately in preparation for Fall 2020:

Fun Finds:

Read/Watch:

  • One last summer beach read: Necessary People by Anna Pitoniak. A solid 3.5 stars by my highly scientific rating system. Soapy and engaging but with just enough heft to keep it from feeling like total fluff

  • On the opposite end of the spectrum, contemplating re-reading this treasure before the movie comes out

In the City:

  • This weekend M and I did the Giraffe Path hike through upper Manhattan which wasn't quite what I would call a "hike, hike" but we did manage to trek nearly 7 miles and tramp through all of the parks of the Upper West Side. I wouldn't say I'm in a hurry to do a repeat of the full thing, parts were a bit um, interesting... but there are so many gems in this city that we don't experience often enough. Making it a fall to do to spend more time in Central Park and uptown in general.

Workouts:

  • Have you tried Melissa Wood Health workout's yet? A great way to help ease back into a fitness routine

  • After cancelling my Equinox membership in favor of Planet Fitness, a decision I still debate the merits of on a near daily basis but that is a story for another day, I've also been dabbling with Madeline Moves workout plans, including her Tighter Together fall challenge

  • Also, AirPods (+ currently on sale!) Why did that take me so long??

Wellness:

  • Having already fallen victim to a late summer cold, stocking up on this and this
