October Favorites
Between work, life and who-knows-whatelse it is somehow already October and the weather has officially turned in NYC. Scarves and light jackets are key during this fleeting but oh-so-wonderful season of the year. I always love discovering what I stashed away at the end of spring last year and adding a few new items to the mix as the seasons change. It is also time for roast vegetables (squash!!) and soups and hot coffee (dying to try this!) again. Little things we will all be sick of soon enough but the change and novelty right now is a total delight.
Fashion:
Still loving all things H&M this season. Check out this flow polka dot dress (style it with slouchy suede boots with a bit of a heel) and this leather skirt that looks like it cost way more than $30, this brocade beauty and this teddy coat which is sadly too similar to one I picked up at Zara last year but looks so cosy
Also having a Zara moment this fall, recently picked up a few new items: coat, pants, blouse and sweater
Sales this weekend: JCrew (40% off everything!) and Mango (30% off)
Read/Watch:
I'll give The Winemaker's Wife by Kristen Harmel 3.5 stars. There were so many complicated relationships in the two parallel story lines that didn't seem fully explored and I had a hard time connecting with several of the characters as they seemed
Lock Every Door by Riley Sager was just plain creepy. Highly inventive but shudder...
Other recent reads:
Passion on Park Avenue (yes, as soapy as it sounds but very fun), Bringing Down the Duke (a recco from Hitha), The Dressmakers Gift, The Secrets We Kept, All the Flowers in Paris, The Winemaker's Wife
A primer on fall TV
I just dove into The Politician on Netflix which is a bit of a mess but I can't stop watching
Workplace:
Around the City:
Have you tried Glowbar? 30 minute treatments that are a cross between a facial and a visit to the dermatologist, you are in and out and on your way with significantly fresher skin in no time!
We recently revisited Balaboosta which was delicious, (try the eggplant and the pickles).
Open House NY is October 18-20, get ready!
Fun Finds:
Leave it to the French to design chic vegetable peelers
I just ordered The Body Kit from Necessaire and it is really good. I'm super sensitive to product scents and love having the option to order unscented versions. Plus the formulations are really luxurious
Speaking of natural body care, I just read about Ever Eden, which I haven't tried yet but looks intriguing
