Travel Guide: Providence, RI

M and I took a quick weekend trip to Providence for his birthday in early August. It was a pretty easy trip from NYC without a car (Amtrak up and back) and the city overall was very walkable. We had intended to get a Zip car and go to Newport for the day, but we decided to spend our time exploring Providence instead. The Brown University campus, RISD Museum and Federal Hill were some of the highlights. We found that many of the smaller shops as well as t

he Anthaneum was closed due to the summer holidays, something to keep in mind if you are visiting in late summer.

While in Providence, we stayed at the awesome Dean Hotel. The interiors are super quirky and fun - think neon signs in the hallways, gold bathroom fixtures and an awesome vintage cage elevator! Check out
